Feminist Zine

tags:

I'm interested in starting up a feminist zine in London. The zine would focus on young women and the issues that we face that aren't covered by the mainstream media. If you are interested in helping me out with this project, please contact me at erikao7@hotmail.com

The F-Word

Hey Erika!

Check out The F-Word - http://www.usc.uwo.ca/win/f-word.htm

Here's the latest issue - http://www.usc.uwo.ca/win/fword/FWordAugust.pdf

It's a campus zine -- from The Women's Issues Network (WIN) (who have a group on Facebook if you use that).

More feminist publishing is definitely in order, though.  You might connect with people in WIN who would want to help with that.

Thanks for the reply, I've

Thanks for the reply, I've checked out those sites and I've started to spread the word. I'm new to the online community here and the future of the feminist zine looks promising.

welcome!

Hi Erika,

I hope you get this 'zine off the ground and distributed in the community! I don't know how familiar you are with the Activism Community here in London, but I'd suggest posting this to London Indy Media and the London Activist Network listserve (the LAN as it's known). Also, once the students are back, the Women's Issues Network could also be a good place to find interested folks. I'm sure a few of the ladies around here might have some ideas too... (*cough*Lauren-'n-Shaleena-'n-Lizzy*cough*)

Finally, Wellcome to the London Commons! Please let us know how the project is coming along!

Another site

Here's another relevant site - http://freedom.2y.net/wiki/Main_Page

It's not well-tended, but it's still certainly worth visiting.

one more

I almost forgot My Sister's Place.  If you can make connections  there, you may find some intresting perspectives. if you send me a private  message, I can see about helping you get in contact with one of the workers there.
