The long-overdue Empowerment website is finally up and running...  It's been dormant for almost half a year now but I spent all day yesterday learning how to put it together and can now update it very easily.  So please check it out and give feedback on how we can make it better...

This is the first post to the Programming Club!  I'm going to try and write about the stuff I'm learning.  I figure that if I were being taught this stuff in school I would be expected to write papers forcing me to put the concepts into my own words.  Hopefully the Programming Club can provide surrogates for a lot of the advantages to learning in school like providing an audience to share knowledge with, opportunities for learning together etc.

Activist Max Rameau and Take Back the Land have assited homeless people in Miami find shelter by reclaiming foreclosed homes. I always expected that sometime during this financial crises discontenment and necessity might inspire people to create these kinds of projects in spite of the government, I just never thought it would happen this soon.

Hey all

A couple of us in the community are planning on doing-up a 'Food Not
Bombs' free Christmas dinner here in the Old East either on Christmas
Eve or Christmas night.  We are thinking about serving out of EVAC.

We are getting together for a meeting tomorrow (friday) night at 6:00pm here at the Empowerment Centre (636 Queens ave., just east of Adelaide) right before the Toys for Columbia benefit show.
